Abstract
The aim of the present study is to define the influence of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) in heterotrophic culture of photosynthetic microalgae Chlorellar vulgaris, which can utilize insoluble colloidal chitin supplemented as a sole carbon source in heterotrophic condition, as described in our previous work. For the deep understanding of the catabolic pathway of GlcNAc in C. vulgaris, we focused on the identification of extracellular proteins that GlcNAc-induced by combination of MALDI-TOF and bioinformatic analysis. A total of seven proteins were expressed as GlcNAc-induced in comparison with the control as upregulated proteins. Among them, four highly expressed proteins were analyzed by MALDI-TOF-MS to identify the function of the differentially expressed proteins in response to GlcNAc in C. vulgaris.
